just got back from an awesome lake Powell trip! while at Powell i had PLENTY of time to mess with the trim while driving 30+ miles at a time. seems like i have very minor trim movement before it will porpious like mad. this is in rough or smooth water. i feel i really just don't trim at all for best all around results.
with large bow weight (gear + 2 to 3 people) it was better but still didn't get the smoothness from the ride and speed i think it can do and would get porpoising.
the prop is a 14-1/2 x 19
i live in Colorado so elevation the higher/lower (i forget which way it works) pitch is necessary, i believe. I'm normally boating around here at 5800-8000 feet. Powell was 3636' feet when we were there and i could get about 40 out of it with 3 guys and a big ice chest. my max RPM at WOT didn't seem to move much over 4000-4200 @ Powell (this is for 6+ miles at a time WOT). from what i've read i think 4500-4800 is WOT. i know at 8000 feet i defiantly need something more cause it is a dooooog. and at Powell and one lower elevation lake I've been to I've had the best performance.
for wakeboarding/wakeskating the whole shot is fine with a small to normal size load.
with the 2 tubes and or 1 BIG one we defiantly eat up some water before getting a good plane.
so i need to prop up but how much more? hate to spend the $ to still not have enough. or am i just tapped out with my 5.0GL at this altitude?
thanks all.
