I bought an 95' Horizon with a 130 Hp Johnrude outboard. It runs great. But it only tops out at 43-44 mph. I was thinking about putting a bigger outboard on it like a 150,175,200.... Does anyone have any experience with more power on one of these hulls. I am not planning on breaking any speed records. 55 would be nice though. I like to barefoot ski and i need 41-43 to do it. This falls a little short. |

You should be able to find max HP ratings somewhere on the boat labels or in the manuals at http://www.fourwinns.com. I would not recommend exceeding these limits because you never know the structural integrity of the hull after all these years. You could reinforce the transom by sandwiching it between two thick sheets of aluminum but you risk water intrusion through the bolt holes.... Maybe it would be better to sell this boat and look for something with more power that better suits your needs. |

Thanks for your input. I am really looking for someone that has/had this size of boat and the mentioned power. I want to know how much there is to gain. |
