Post subject: | 2003 horizon 220 RPM Problem |
I have a friend who has this boat with the Volvo 5.0L GXI 260 hp. The tachometer is reading 5600+ at 3/4 throttle. We don't seem to think the engine is overrevving by our ears and the rev limiter has not kicked in. Is there a way to check the gauge or does this model even have the rev limiter?? Wouldn't the engine sound awful if the gauge is correct?? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks |

Wondering if the tach is set for a 6 cyl instead of an 8 cylinder.... that would certainly fit your description... ![]() |

A bit more info... My friend has owned this boat since new and this problem just crepted up. The boat has always run great with little or no problems. If its just the gauge then we need not worry until we can get it looked at but we were wondering if the gauges fail after 6 years and/or how we would test?? Thanks |

Has he recently changed props? |

No changes to props and they do not appear to be slipping. They are SS duoprops and have a couple of small dings and the skeg is bent slightly to the right. Everything on the boat is original. |
