Ok so when I was retrieving my boat I am still trying to figure out what depth is the easiest to load at. Well the boat was to shallow and I bumped the throttle to try and push the boat up the bunks. Well you guessed it the prop hit the concrete and bent all for blades before I shut off the motor and raised the drive. In inspecting the damage at home I noticed a catch when turning the prop shaft. Turning it clockwise it turns but you can feel it bump our catch each time you rotate it. ALso when turning it counter clockwise it catches and releases. I don't remember it ever doing any of this stuff before. How much damage did I do? |

I'm not positive, but sounds like it could be a bent/damaged propshaft. |

Also if I grab the prop shaft I can pull it up a small amount. Is that normal? It goes in and out of gear with out problem and the shaft turns in gear. |

Back to the mechainc for you Todd!! Have them look over the outdrive and make sure and give them all the details so they will know how far to search. |

Keep your head up Todd. There's a joint in the drive that compensates for your trim. It's almost like a U-joint.(see pic) It may just be this joint that you're feeling. (Especially if you're turning it with the trim all the way up). Don't take my word for it. I don't know squat,  but I just figured I'd help you sleep tonight.   EDIT: I know it's not your OD, but it's the best pic I could find.

The frustrating part is that when my parents had their reinell 10 years ago I used to take it out all the time. In the 100 times I launched and retrieved I never damaged a prop or outdrive. I have been out 4 times and had an issue twice. |

Well I have an update!!!! Life has been super busy so I have not even looked at the boat since the day of my last post. Before I took the boat into the shop today I wanted to check and make sure the reason for the clicking wasn't that I was in between neutral and forward. Guess what I was not all the way into neutral. I moved the shift lever in and out a few times and rechecked the prop shaft. It now spins as smooth as butter just like before. I will slap the 15x17 prop back on and take it for a test ride. |

That was my guess (I just read all of the thread, now), but you had said that i went in & out of gear OK so I figured you did not have it in gear while you were trying to turn the prop. Been there .... done that. |
