The Horizon 230/240 & 250/260 has a large amount of wasted space under the sink. Has anyone done or seen the installation of an accesss hatch. I am considering cutting into the side and installing a door. I gotta believe some one has taken on this project. I've searched the net without any luck.

One thought comes to mind is the finish of the surfaces under there. Is it smooth gelcoat or will you also have to put a finished surface on the inside areas? And are you sure there's nothing under there besides dead space? I'm all for making better use of available space, and powerboats (all brands) are notorious for wasting it. But there's often something behind there that would make it a 'less than convenient' storage area, thus them leaving it unused.

I gave this alot of thought when I had my 260 but never did anything. The fresh water tank is in their otherwise is a "finished" area. The trash can is so small it's almost useless. No idea how you'd fabricate a doors an make it look factory.

I had the same thought as soon as I bought my boat. The main problem I see is that this is a curved area on the 260. If you screwed it up it would look bad.

I was looking for something in SSI plastics that might work. Did you look there?
