Take a look at the picture. I have one cleat on the bow and it is right behind the light. The issue is that the anchor rope moves side to side and knocks the light off. I noticed the Horizon's all have 2 cleats on either side. Wonder why mine ended up like that!

Was thinking of installing a line chock on either side about where the 3rd snap is from the centered cleat.

Does anyone know how long a stainless screw I need and is there anything i need to be worried about hitting?
Thanks

our 2000 is the same way. i've had to replace the light the first year we owned the boat. left her in water overnight and she got beat by 4' waves while i stood there in my skivvies wondering if she was going to hold anchor. lucky for us she did.

now i just try and throw it to one side of the light in hopes it will stay there and not slide back and forth popping it off again.

that's a pretty good idea with the chock.

I have tried putting it one side or the other and sometimes its ok, other times its right up against the light. Friend was holding the bow line at a dock in a strong current and the light popped off. Just 3 plastic pins hold it and one of mine bent (lucky it did not break) so I am going to do the chock. Just not sure if anything is under there (probably just the wiring for the light) or where is the strongest spot to mount it.

Just a simple solution if you are interested.... I had the same issue with my Sailboat. It was moored almost year round. I would tie up to the front/center cleat, and run a clip/hook around the rope and to the bow eye below. This way everything was secure, the line tied up on deck, but wouldn't move around at all, thus no damage to the spot light I had mounted on the bow, and no rubbing on my Marlin-spike.

I have the same setup and have not had any trouble with the light (knocking on wood...). Most times I drop an anchor off of the stern to keep it from swinging around, I've noticed this also relieves pressure on the light.

I have an 08 H190. But I have 2 cleats on the bow. Also I noticed you have "external" hand rails.Wonder why it is different? What is the difference between Freedom vs Horizon?

My brother has a much older Freedom and he has the same hand rails. It must be a Freedom thing. I wish I had them. They're great for hanging a fender right where you need it.

Over on another board I saw a thread where a poster with the same nav light and cleat setup replaced the light with a flush mount pop-up.

That's the way I'd go.

I like that pop up light, but I wonder what is under my existing light. Going to have to take it apart today and look before I install the rope chock's.

My Freedom is an 03. Not sure when they stopped making the Freedom, but when you compare to an 03 Horizon there are virtually no differences, just a few standard vs option items.

OK that makes more sense. The title above your Pic says 2008 FW Freedom Volvo Penta 4.3. I didn't know it was an 2003.

Never realized that! Looks like I put the right year in something that does not show up. It is a 2003.
