I have the SL262 - it's definitely a big, roomy boat. I'm not much for the graphics packages on these, but the boat itself is great. MSRP keeps going up - but you can already get decent deals on used now. Ask me how I know......... ![]() |

I still have it - I'll admit, I really haven't made much of an effort outside of listing on Craigslist. I probably could have sold it if I wanted to take an absolute drubbing, but that wasn't an option. I'm happy to keep it and go on with life - but if I get a decent offer, I'd be okay selling it too. Once again I underestimated how much time my kids' sports activities would take over the summer. My little idealized version of spending nights on the lake, hitting the water every Saturday and Sunday, watching my kids blossom into professional wakeboarders - ain't happenin'. |

I have a 2009 version of leftlanes 262 (minus the arch) and absolutely love it. Feels more luxurious than all the Cobalt's i've been in if you can believe it. This was my first full summer with it and I got a LOT of second looks (most were "good" second looks). I am with Leftlane on the graphics...I like a classic type look. |

[quote="hellasnow"] i know price can be all over the place i've seen them for sell now from 45k - 70k (little out of my price range...lol) quote] I picked up my SL262 very close to the bottom of your range in June. Granted it was a new 08, but absolutely love it. My wife and I were back and forth between an open bow (depth of seating with kids sitting in the seats vs. on them) and a deck boat (wide bow and flat bow entrance). When I found the SL series, I came home and told her I found our next boat...she laughed, said "whatever" and assumed I was looking online at Fountains or Formulas. Once she took a ride in one, she was sold. SHE was the reason I got a new boat this year!!! WOO HOO! Great ride, more than enough power...love it...(now if only I can find a Corsa exhaust system on sale) |

The new Chaparral 216 SSi Wide Tech has a Kevlar Reinforced Hull as well. They added Kevlar in 2008 to try and catch up to Cobalt, Four Winns is yet to jump on the bandwagon. I suspect it is a cost issue at Four Winns. A couple of pics Sweet looking new boat. |

I'm with ya - I was actually going to buy a Cobalt because I've always appreciated their quality and syle, but when it came time to price an apples-to-apples comparison, Cobalt was $20k more than my SL. I don't recall the designer's name that went to Four Winns from Cobalt, but he passed away not too long ago. |

The SL series is supposed to stand for Sport and Luxury, but, in reality, it is the initials of Steve Lumpe, the long time boat designer for Cobalt that Four Winns hired to design boats. Unfortunately, Steve passed away suddenly before the first SL series rolled out of production. However, his design team finished it and brought them to market. |

Ask me how I know......... ok how? haha good info on the designer and interesting with the SL abbreviation. cobalt is a sweet well built boat with the price tag to match. my wife has been into our friends new Azure and has been talking about them. once i showed her just pictures of the SL series she said ok we could stick with fourwinns.... haha |
