Post subject: | Metal rub rail |
I'm looking at a 2002 Four Winns 190 Horizon and though I loved the boat I was a little bugged by a metal rub rail. When I'm coming into the dock it is often the case I bump into a piling or structure with the bow of the boat. My previous boats all had rubber rails which took the impact well. My question is how does the metal rub rail handle the occasional bumps? Thanks.... |

Fine unless you hit it real hard. John's Golden Rule of Docking: "Never approach the dock any faster than you are willing to hit it!" |

Most of the structures I see aroung here are wooden so the steel is holding up great so far. When I was looking at boats (before we bought ours) I noticed that the rubber rails on other makes were always scuffed and sometimes even torn. |

Thanks all. The boat looks very nice but the metal rubrail through me off. Sounds like it's not really much of an issue if you avoid collisions. My old boat was one of those "scuffed" rubber rubrails. JC III |
