Awhile back I posed the question about Fortress anchors for my 260 here.

I ended up getting the fortress FX-7 for a deal on E-bay

The length of the shank (A on the image) was 24 inches. And as was true to my concern(and others experience from the previous thread) It was a pain to get the anchor in with 150' of rode and 10' of chain. I kept marring the gel coat trying to get it in. As you can sort of see here.

I came up with a solution that worked for me.
It was simple. All i did was tape off the area I was going to cut. I then traced a small plate from my kitchen that had the right diameter and used a cutting blade on my Dremel tool to cut out the tracing. It turns my Dremel was the perfect size to get into the locker. Then I sanded the cut edges and voila. My anchor now fits with less struggle.

You were worried about a few nicks inside the anchor locker?

Well not really but sort of... It's more than that... The main reason is that with the rode in the locker there really wasn't much space to get the anchor in. Which in turn led to some scratches, but the bottom edge of the area I cut out was really beat up. Previously the shank of the anchor would be pressed tight up against that area as it rested on top of the rode. It now sits at such an angle that I don't have to wrestle with the rode to give me enough room to fit the anchor into its holder. I agree it's an anchor locker it will take some abuse but now I won't have too.
