We have a 2007 Four Winns 240 Horizon, purchased new. In trying to crank the swivel jack for the first time this season, I broke the gear. I had tried to grease using the grease fitting in the past but it would not accept grease from my grease gun. Anyway, getting ready to buy new swivel jack. The one that came on the factory trailer was a Fulton 1200lb. I can buy that one or I can go to the next size up, Fulton 1500lb. They mount the same. Is it worth the extra $20 to buy the 1500lb? Thanks for any help. |

I love the forum this time of year with all the new guys and new boats. If it were me, I'd go with the bigger one, a little extra strength is always a good thing and it's not like you replace these things every week. A couple of us here have cut off our original mounts and installed Fulton F2 jacks. It's a nice jack. ![]() |

Thanks for the quick response, Mike. I believe I will go with the 1500lb. Just looking for reinforcement. |

Since it had to be welded on and I'm not a welder, I paid a welding shop to do the job. They cut the original plate off with a grinder & cutoff wheel, and then changed to a grinding disc to smooth it down to the rail. I would've preferred to leave the original plate on and weld the new one next to it, but that would've put the jack just a tad too far forward or rearward. They make a weld-on plate for it with the mating holes already tapped, etc., but it's sold separately. My trailer shop had to order it from Fulton and wait 2 weeks for it to arrive. Best bet is to contact Fulton directly and ask them the best way to get one. You could also make your own mount plate but it wasn't worth it to me to go to the trouble. Here's the new plate after welding. I painted it before bolting on the jack. ![]() |
