New to forum...wondering if any of you out there have feedback on this boat? I have a number of questions to ask...

2009 new H200 w/ tower and all the options, closed cooling, dual batts, stainless trim etc.....

What prop should I replace the factory one with?
Will the 5.0L be enough power?
Top Speed?
Reliability?
Hole Shot...etc....

I have been searcing this forum for a while now before I made the decision to buy a FW boat. Will post pics soon.

Thanks in advance,

Vancouver, Canada

Congrats on your purchase hopefully you have found the answers to your questions since I am a new boat owner and don't have any idea. Just wanted to say hello to a fellow Four Winns owner I am waiting on my H220SS to arrive hopefully by this weekend. Will post pictures also when I get them. Love the color on yours. 8) Joe in Miami.

What is the purpose for this boat? In order for people on this site to answer your questions better you need to be more specific in what you plan to do with it.

Boats are not like cars, they only have 1 gear. A prop will make the boat do a specific thing.... better out of the hole for towing or fast top speed.. but as these are heavy bow rider pleasure boats and not dedicated ski/wakeboard boats they are not a one size fit all machine as like lets say a Malibu that has double the horse power as your H200.

That being said... Even my 2000 H180 with a 3.0 140hp engine wake boards just fine, and has a top speed in the mid 40s. Your boat being much heavier and only 100ish more HP I wouldn't expect any difference top speed wise except a little better out of the hole.

the factory installed prop is set up fine for all round use - will give you the best combo for both hole, top end, cruising and water sports. You can get one with greater/lesser pitch to increase on of these aspects, but it will be at the cost of the others. Leave what you got from factory.

Top end is really a useless measurement unless your planning on racing - your boat will have plenty of power and I personally prefer to go with either the 5.0 or 5.7....great engines. The extra 100 hp referenced by the other poster is actually HUGE. I would imagine top end will be around the 53ish range depending on weather, water, wind, altitude and load conditions where you are at.

Mine is 1 foot longer (heavier) and I have the 300 hp 5.7 - it hit 60 at sea trial on speedo (so who knows actual speed).....much faster than i will be going.

My 2008 H220SS with the 5.7 300 Gi hit 55 on the speedo on Lake Norman in Mooresville North Carolina on a very smooth day. She felt like she was going 100. I only kept it at WOT for less than a minute so agree with you top speed is pretty much useless unless your racing. I cruised the lake at 29 to 40 and it felt plenty fast. I really like the way she popped up on plane really quick and didn't need much coaxing to keep her on plane at slow speeds which was definitely cool when cruising for bikinis in need of a ride near the beach area. It was great I think the hole shot is my favorite aspect of the engine combo in my opinion. 8) Joe in Miami awaiting delivery to Miami 7-11-11

I would keep factory, it does just fine for all around. my niece and nephew are the wakeboarders in the family and they say my boat feels better then our friends Centorion. and as a posted in another thread i past an elimenator who was moving pretty good.

Keep in mind that specialty boats are just that - for a specific designed purpose...for hole shot you will not beat the wakeboard boats. That's what they are designed for and they're pretty much on plane instantly. With that said they will tend to ride rougher - have low profile and will ride wetter - and top end is typically lower.

The SS/Horizon bow-rider is designed as an all round multi-purpose boat. It will not be the best at any one aspect, but will perform respectfully across the board. As far as speed and performance goes - you will beat a wakeboat accross the lake, but you will be playing catch up for the first part of the race. As far as ride - you will have comfort of a Buick while they will have the response of a Sportscar - the king daddy in ride will be the cruisers.

get into bad water and you would rather be on your boat than the wakeboat, but the big boys in the cruisers will be saying the same thing about our boats (SS/Horizons). I guess my best analogy would be that the SS and/or Horizons are the Sports Sedan as compared to the Sportsters (Wakeboats) and Towncars (Cruisers).

No, just aware that there will be plenty more people cruising the forum looking for answers and reassurance.
