Gotta hand it to 230 Mike risking a pair of brand new Polk db651's, and getting rewarded with this:

I had a pair of older db650's on hand that I never even took out of the box, because of the gray grills. So following in Mike's footsteps, I painted one up one of the grilles with Krylon Fusion Gloss White. Here's a side by side:

Looks better in the picture somehow, but I felt more was needed so I painted the trim ring around the tweeter.

I'm much happier with the result - now to do the other one, and mount them in the bow!

Just wanted to share that Mike's technique can be applied to the older db650's with good result.

Of course now I kick my self for not getting the Polks when they were cheap because I wanted white. :x

I helped a friend install some Polks on his Sea Ray 3 years ago, and before install, we painted the grilles white. It seemed like common sense at the time to have them match the white interior of his boat.

They look great !

Jim, that looks awesome! Very nice work. The painted tweeter bezel definitely enhances the "marine" look IMO.
