Hi Gents, anyone have an idea.
Have had my boat out 6 times now and on the second time the speedo stays at 30MPH.
It still goes up but sticks at 30, I removed the pipe behind the speedo but no luck.
I feel that it's in the gauge, but have no idea what to do.

Try going really fast in reverse. Actually, you might try to find and disconnect the tube from the outdrive where it connects to the built in pitot. If all else fails, and you don't want to take it back to the dealer try calling Faria - they are known for good customer service.

Here is my experience with Faria:

I had similar very positive experiences with Faria; they replaced a faulty tachometer (with hour gauge) with a brand new one for a standard charge which even included shipping it back to the UK. Fantastic service, they even included a customs declaration that it was a warrranty replacement part, so there was no UK tax to pay on it.

The web site indicates payment should be by cheque in USD; for anyone outside the US who does not have a US Checking account, they will accept Credit cards as well. ( in my case, to get my bank to issue a USD cheque from my £Sterling account, the extra charge would have been almost as much as for the repair itself !)

Same problem here. Someone told me to try to loosen the nut at the back which holds the guage in place in the dash. May be a bit too tight and causing the guage to stick. When I get back out to the cottage, will be giving this a try on mine.

Are you getting unexpected amounts of water in your bilge?

I ask because mine was doing exactly that, it would go to 30 and that was it, then after I blew the tube out (with compressed air, trying to clean it out) it quit working all together. This coupled with the fact that I was getting much more water than normal in my bilge had me totally frustrated. Turns out my speedo tube had become disconnected. The leak will be hard to see because they bundled the speedo tube with all of the other wiring behind your motor and the exhaust tubing is somewhat in the way as well. Look at the black plastic tubing connected to the back of your speedo and then go back in your engine bay and try to find the same tubing back in that bundle of wires behind and above the motor. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it. It's possible that you have a partial clog in the pickup and no leak, in either case you need to find the speedo tube in your engine bay and blow some compressed air through it from the engine bay side toward the lower unit to clear the stoppage or the tubes are pulling apart at the splice. This will all make total sense to you once you find the tube back there.

Mine works, kinda. Will not move unless you get up to a higer speed, and then sticks. Will eventually come back down after awhile. Still think it's the guage. Will try my idea at the cottage next time and report. :)

Faria themselves recommend that if a gauge "pegs" the first thing to try is to loosen off the mounting nuts. That worked initially for my tachometer, but eventually it wouldn't go past 3000 rpm and would stick as rpm decreased.
