Hey guys! Has anyone done any water sports before there 20 hour service?

Is the idea of not doing any Water sports before 20 hours to have the engine get a little bit of work-in and not be stressed with the heavier load and quick push to get a skier out of the water?

On a new engine you should follow the break-in procedure outlined in the owners manual. If I remember correctly, you need to vary the RPM, not accelerate hard, and keep full throttle to a minimun during break-in.

Okay, will keep that in mind once we get ours. Makes sense, don't want to push the engine before it has time to break-in.

Follow the break in its worth it. get those fluids changed and check all the rest and you are ready to rip. Dont chance it by doing watersports before the break in period is over. its still cold anyways so get some beers, snacks, and friends and go fishing or scout out some good spots for watersports and beaching when it gets warmer. This is what i will be doing

Absolutely follow the break-in procedure as outlined in the manual.

I might add that I DID put my kids, between 50 - 80 pounds each, one at a time on the tube. That was not stressfull on the engine. Plus it allowed me to vary the engine speeds a bunch. Would I suggest yanking a 240 pound skier out of the water?....maybe not.

So once the 50 hour mark has been hit, than pretty much you can start pullign skiers, tubs and opening her up?

its gonna be tough for me because i'm one of those very impatient people and want to do things right away. for the first 2 hours it says to get the boat on plane and not to exceed 1/2 or 3/4 throttle and to keep varing speed while on plane. for the next 8 hours short bursts to full throttle are ok but always varying throttle speed and the last 10 hours full trottle bursts of 5 minutes are ok but still traveling under 3/4 throttle

Yep, break-in sucks. It took us almost the entire first season to get through it. But, it beats having a couple of great seasons and then replacing an engine.

I recommend planning several trips that include some very long leisurely cruises. That way you can get the break-in hours over with (it's 20 by the way, not 50) under conditions that you can control, and everyone can still enjoy being on the boat. I had trouble always remembering to vary the throttle - my wife had to keep telling me to do it - so keep that in mind.

wait i thought the break in was 20 hours not 50? twenty hours is easy to do. DO it now in the winter like me I love driving my boat around.

unless they ad an ice breaker ball to the optional features my boat will be kinda tough to drive right now hehe. i want to get out on the water as soon as possible i can't wait i pick her up April 20th

April 20th, that is sometime to wait. Is it being built or just stored?

How long is the build time for a 200? They start March 8th.

its being stored until then. no sense of them getting it ready to have it sit in my driveway so i figured just keep it there until april

Surprisingly, as expensive as these things are and as much stress and sleeplessness goes into selecting them, the build time is only about 4-5 days from empty molds to ready-to-ship (I'm sure Vistas are significantly more because of all the interior fitting-out). If they start it on 3/8, it should be ready to ship by 3/14 (there's a weekend in there). After that it's a matter of shipping logistics; if yours is the only boat that needs to be delivered in your direction, it'll likely wait to ship until there's at least one more to go with it. In any case, I'd expect you to be able to take delivery by late March or very early April.

Our build date was 5/18/05. It was delivered to the dealer on 5/28, a Saturday. We took delivery the following Thursday, 6/2.

I believe trailers are built separately and are selected and adjusted to fit your boat, so there's normally no delay waiting for it to be built (your trailer is most likely already sitting out in the yard).

One thing I thought interesting on our 230 - everyone who worked on it, except for one person, was a woman.
