Hi all,

I'm still shopping for a new to me Four Winns. I thought I'd introduce myself here while I continue to look. Anyhow I'm looking to pick up a Horizon 190 or 200 V6 or V8, I'm going to be hauling it back up to toronto and my goal is to be around $13-15K imported (read stupid 13% tax). If you see anything or can suggest dealers that you've had positive experiences with in the past that would be awesome. I've been cruising around here a bit today and many of you have some very nice vessel's. Btw this is going to be my first boat! I'm pretty excited, ideally I want to have something purchased by the end of the month. I already put in an offer on Monday for 2002 H190 but the guy was asking way too much (15,995) IMO and would not budge. The quest continues.

You can buy a new 2010 H180LE for around 17K + tax here in Canada. Call one of the local dealers and ask about it. Here's a few places you can look also

http://www.theboatwarehouse.com
http://www.winnisquammarine.com
http://www.pier74.com

Good Luck and let us know what you find.

My Boat came from the BOATWAREHOUSE in Kingston.
I have to say that I've been very happy with the staff and the prices of there stock.
My H210 SS is my third boat, my last FW 1990 Freedom was bought from Don Hyde Marine in Hagersville.
The only Problem with them that I had was when I took it in for repair they fixed the problem but crushed the main fuse and stuck it back in without replacing it. That wasn't the only thing, I got the boat back up to the cottage and there was a big chip out of the top of the boat, I didn't see it because they had put the cover back on the boat. When I called them they told me that they never did it and they where not willing to help me out.
Anyways good luck and hope you find that FW your looking for.

Check out out Hall's Sports Center. They are in MI Just north of Grand Haven. I purchased my 248 and brought it back to Ontario.
Ask for Jim Rigby he might be able to find you something. They were awesome to deal with special with all of the proper paper work to get it back in to canada.

In my opinion I would not deal with pier74 in London. I have heard a few good stories come out of that place....

If you have any questions about bring the boat back let me know. I was 20 min in and out of customs

Those are 3.0l base boats. I'm looking 4.3L sunsport would be way more here. I have a quote for a 2009 (brand new) h190 4.3L sunsport with swin platform in the US for $18,700. I did not really want to buy brand spankin' new since this is my first boat I kinda wanted something a little older so I when I bump into the dock or trailer from my newbness I wouldn't feel so bad about it.

That's a wise approach, but with a ~19' boat I wouldn't let that scare you completely off of a new one, if you can get the right deal. You'll pick up the handling/maneuvering pretty quickly.

I bought an older used boat, had problems, traded up for a new boat after 2 trips. My advice is buy a new boat now, or at least buy a recent model used boat with a couple of years transferable warranty on the power train. Volvo was offering 5 year extended warranty when I bought a 240 in 2007; 2 + 5 = 2014!

We were in the same situation as you are in now 4 years ago. We checked all the locate places for used boats as well as searched the web. The problem was always worrying what some other person did or didn't do to her and what issues might arise a few months down the road.

So we bought a new 2007 200 and haven't looked back. There have been some bumps after 3 years, but the first year of full coverage really kept my mind at easy for those newbeness issues.

I agree with the other guys...GO NEW !!!!

I don't think I can afford new. A new H190 would be outside my 15K budget. Keep in mind since I'm new to boating I'll have to pick up all the safety equipment to which is another 500-1000 bucks.
