Have our first big trip to Crescent Lake in Central Oregon. I used to go to this lake every summer with my family, sadly we never had anything but a 12' Sail Boat. So for me its homecoming to take my kids to the lake.

So I am getting the boat ready for the trip, stopped by the dealer across from work and picked up a quart of oil and gear lube. I have a spare, jack and tools.

Anything else in your "must have" list when you take the boat on a longer trip?

Spare prop(s) if you have them
Be sure your trailer tires are completely inflated, including spare
Well stocked tool kit
Wheel chocks
A couple of 2x4's, ~24" long

spare drain plug
spare impellar kit

basic cleaners (you never know about accidents)

Make sure you have all your safety gear, and a tow rope if you have issues on the water.

Enjoy the trip!

Thanks input! I have most all of that except the impeller spare & drain plug. Right now I have the aluminum prop on and the SS as my spare, should I have another aluminum?

Curious what the 2x4's are for though.

As long as you have a spare of some kind, you should be good. You just don't want to screw one up and have the rest of the trip ruined because you have to wait a week for a spare to arrive.

The 2x4's are for trailer breakdowns. You might have to put the jack on soft ground, you might have to raise the jack higher than you expect, etc. Or, you might need to persuade something with your BFH and want to put something in between to protect it. You never know - think of them as duct tape for your trailer.

Battery jump pack if you have only a single battery system
tool kit
Prop wrench and cotter pin for prop in case you need to change it
Spare fuses
spare engine belts
impeller
spare tire, jack...make sure you have a lug wrench that fits the lugs on the trailer..could be different than your tow vehicle
I also carry a set of spare spark plugs...points n condenser (ancient engine) dist cap and rotor...I can do a tune up with the boat in the water if need be...

Sun block, first aid kit, extra ignition key. Check to see if there are any other saftey items required at the lake (stickers, flares). Clean and dry your bilge before you get there in case of inspections at the ramp (good idea anyway to prevent spread of invasive species).

Wow great list, thank everyone! Looks like I need to add a few things to the shopping list and grab a few more things from around the house.

Thanks for the details on the 2x4, thought with a teenager it might have been used to knock some sense into him :o

Finally, I see somebody with their priorites in line. If they boat breaks, you blow a tire, at least you have beer to get you through the troubles.

Mmmmm Beer. Check

Though I've grown rather fond of a Frozen Plastic Bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade after we go ATVing... might be good after boating too, well I'm 100% sure it will be good.
