Hello. I just thought I would say HI, so far no issues, I just bought my boat a month ago, 1989 Horizon 180. 260 hours on her, OMC 5.0 Cobra, I need to get a few interior shots, but no issues no rips tears, floor is solid, always garage kept. Got it for $2000.00 Very excited. Runs beautifully. I am enjoying it, the 5.0 really moves!!!! I think there maybe a short in the handle because at WOT it will trim itself up.. so I gotta open that up to figure it out. Everything else works, sometimes the depth finder blinks and doesn't report correct depth. nothing major. Anything I should look out for with the boat? this fall I will take the outdrive off and check out all the u-joints and everything there. Prop is a 14.5 19.. seems to work well for the boat. should i try anything else? pulls people up quick and about 50mph at top end.

Just wanted to introduce myself so if and when I have an issue I can talk to people on here to figure things out.

THanks everyone.

Welcome, and great pics! Looks like you found yourself a very well-maintained boat at a great price considering the apparent condition. If you aren't certain about when the impeller was last changed, you should plan on doing it. Make sure your anodes are all in good shape. Is that the original trailer? Though it appears to be, it also seems long (not a bad thing). What's going on with the trailer side guides? It looks like there's something on top of the carpet? Maybe just an illusion. Oh, and if you tow it any distance behind that Jeep, you'd better get some flaps on there or you're going to chip the heck out of the hull. Where do you boat?

You've found a great forum.

Yes original trailer for the boat, oh top of the side guards is just wood, the carpet is falling off the top. I Live on a lake in michigan, just a small little inland lake, plan on taking a few trips here and there with it. Ya I will do the impeller when I go through the outdrive this fall, I am ASE mechanic so I have no question about going through the outdrive.. Having an 18 foot boat with the ford 5.0 is nice. I want to get some through the hull exhaust for it, have a V-8 why not show it off. I will get some interior photos next time I uncover it.. I need to get some gas before another ride.

Thanks !!

I was editing my post as you were posting your reply. Note, that Jeep will throw rocks at the hull pretty badly if you don't get some flaps on there.

Looks like you got a heck of a deal there....that's very few hours for that boat - did they provide any maintenance records? I know that's asking a bunch for that price, but if no records assume all the maintenance needs done. This off season I personally would go ahead and swap the bellows, drive joint and bearing when you pull the drive. That way you knows its taken care of (also swap the rubber boot for the gear shifter) while you have it off (cheap stuff if you can do it all yourself).

One other thing I would check out is how that boat's sitting on the trailer.....hard to tell from pics, but you have a 4 bunk system with that trailer which is good. But those bunks need to be sitting flush on the bottom of the boat (not on the chines). You may have just had it a little off on that pic or it may be hard to tell from the pic itself. This winter also I would pack the bearings on the trailer and inspect/swap the support bolts if needed for the trailer bunks. I really like older model boats and that boat has a nice look for sure....would be awesome with thru hull if you want the sound (pricey upgrade though).

ya boat was sitting crooked there.. backed it in and put it straight.. went though the trailer bearings already, when fall comes I am sure I will have some questions replacing all the bellows and such. I have a lot of maintenance records, all original paperwork, covers, and the small little top for it. I have not seen anything done in the past few years. 08 was the last registration, so this off season I plan on doing all the outdrive stuff. and yes I REALLY want thru the hull exhaust. .

thanks for the tips. I love the green of this boat. previous owner tinted all the windows which gives is a pretty nice look sitting in the water.

You may check the records and the bellows/bearing/u joint may be fine and recently checked....it's obviously been well cared for, but sure wanta make sure is all. I like that green too.....fyi - i had a 96 CapriSS2050 (Bayliner) for 10 years and the Merc 5.7 had close to 1,500 hrs on it when she gave up the ghost....properly cared for that motor in your boat has just began to live.

I noticed the tinted windows also - nice look. Again - IMO some of the older boats have a ageless look to their design.....yours is in that group - only noticeable change has been the stern platform config...Anxious to see more pics.

nice find! never seen on in that color! If you dont mind, where did you find it at??

that is a killer deal for such a well maintained boat! I was looking all over the metro area and was unable to find anything this nice, and I thought $2500 for mine was a steal! We boat up on the St.Clair river...

Congrats man, I love these boats. Always nice to another in such good shape!

Looking forward to more pics.

Get that outdrive trimmed up a little more before you pull out. :D

I love that even on a FW that's a few years old you can still see they "got it" in the design area and put in a nice swim platform area.

ya gotta get the trim up.. just forgot that time.. lol.

I have never seen another in this color.. all original, interior is green grey and white.. gotta get a pic soon.

I found it on craigslist actually, i was searching for about a month, i saw this pop up.. no photo and went and looked at it and was sold instantly, the condition for this old of a boat i was blown away.. couldnt pass up that kinda deal.. especially since i was looking!. I loved this FW style over all the bayliners or sea rays I was looking at too.. so much more sporty. and a 5.0! very happy about that. Maybe tomorrow night will go for a ride and get photos.. was going to today but need gas.. :) this is a great forum.. been searching around it all day.

I sold my 1975 Delta 18' Tri-Hull with a 302ci/188hp Merc for $2,400 earlier this spring. It was still a solid boat that ran great. It was also well used and had it's share of dock rash, but still in good overall condition. The hour meter conked out about 15 years ago at 1,100 hours, so I'm guessing I had well over 1,500 hours on it when sold. I firmly believe the buyer got a good deal on that boat. That being said, it appears you got a GREAT deal. Congrats!

FYI - I sold my old boat (96 CapriSS-2050 Bayliner) several months ago....it had a new 5.7L Merc and all low unit service/bellow/gimble/ujoint recently replaced.....I found the boat had floor rot in the rear seat area that led to the engine compartment, so the floor needed replacing and one stringer was rot damaged and needed repairing. I sold it for $ 3,500 (cost of motor and install) and it was a good deal for the buyer. Your deal kicks butt!!! I'm amazed.
