I have an 08 H180 and have had my Bimini top thumb screws break on 2 different occasions. Is this normal? Has any one else had any issues or tips to keep this from happening? I was thinking of somehow using a rubber washer to absorb some of the shake? Thanks! |

Didn't someone write up about using ball joints to get round this ( caused by misalignment/ stress on the threaded part) ? A search should find it. Graham |

Thumb screws?? Color me confused. The only thing I've had an issue with is the bracket that's attached to the boat itself. |

Some bimini frames are retained by (thumb) screws that go through an "eye" and into a tapped hole. Graham |

I replaced the screws with the Quick Release Side Mounts, which are much more stable. The first season after I installed the top, I snapped 2 screws and bent another. Also, adding shims between the bracket and the boat may help. See this thread: http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3262&p=35049&hilit=bimini#p35049 |
