Hey all - am new to boating and bought a 1999 200 Horizon right before the 4th of July and am having a blast with the family and friends so far.

Couple of questions - on the 200 Horizon is the floor under the carpet fiberglass or other?

I currently have an aluminum prop - and would like to get an SS prop - what pitch should I go with?

Thanks and hope to learn much from the old pros around here.

If your carpet is glued down, it's likely to be wood. Fiberglass floors will have the snap-in carpet.

Fair warning...intro posts generally require pictures

Yep - if you have wall to wall carpeting in there then it's going to be wood floor...nothing wrong with that at all as long as you keep her covered when not in use. The wood will be resin coated to prevent rot and the seams will have fiberglass typically.

As far as the prop goes - i would go with the same pitch/size you have on there now if you are pleased with how it performs. The SS will flex less and give a little better performance.....aluminum props are forgiving if you hit bottom while the SS ones will not....basically, the alum prop will break before the low unit typically. Hit a rock or stump with a stainless and odds of low unit damage increase.

Basically - i'm suggesting if your a first time boater and there is nothing wrong with the alum prop i would use it for a while before swapping. Just my thought....when you do get a new one keep the old for the spare.
