Hi everyone,
After living in the shuswap lake region in British columbia for 8 years now I finely purchase my first boat, a fourwinns 180. It has been a new experience and every hour is like a vacation since Im only 2 minutes from the lake. I only have 135hp, but great for a starter. Changed the prop to highfive 19p prop, much more control now fast from the start. Less than 20 hours so far, but going to add many more before the end of sept. I named it "Home Too" after my first resturant with the same name.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome aboard!

Funny thing we've lived in the Tri-Cities for about 8 years, our real estate agent told us when we moved here we'd either own a boat or a pool within a few years... I did call her and tell her the boat won!

I notice nhprinter , you went from a h180 to h190 with the larger engine..what differences did notice with power and speed? Is the extra hp eaten up with the extra wieght?

Hi Darcy - welcome!

I also looked at the H180 before going for a H190. The extra foot I find makes things a little less crowded in the cockpit area - especially with the sunsport seating. 190hp give about 50mph top speed versus 40 for the 135, and apparently fuel consumption is not that different as you don't have to work the V6 so hard. I don't think the weight difference is all that great - maybe a couple of hundred pounds.

Ditto what Alec said, but to answer your question the V6 is much more responsive than the 3.0. You can certainly feel the difference even though it's a little bigger boat.

We loved our 180 though. Enjoy!

I would say my only regret was not getting the larger engine, as far as everything else you cant beat it for the price I paid.{$17,000can}. Im pretty sure by this time next summer when they are on sale again I will be upgrading. Now that I have research and learning about boats I know what to buy and what not thanks to many people on this forum. The shuswap lake region has over 1000 miles of shore line, when I want to go from point a to point b or explore islands that are 2 hours away doing 25mp comes the need for a faster boat.

The high five prop has been on my boat now for two weeks. I now can plain so fast I cant count to three. Much better control, trolls nice for fishing. My top speed is 39 so far at 4700rpms to 4800rpms, the rpm is max, but the top speed should be 42, I guess if I toss my wife overboard and try it with just me on board I could get closer. All and all a good investment.

Nice Boat
I've been thinking about a prop for my 3.0 VP but with all the rocks a stainless prop might be a little risky. Are your top speed numbers from the speedo your GPS.I have found that the speedo is about 4mph faster that the GPS.

I only have the speedo to go by. Stainless is tough, you would really have to smash it hard in the rocks to damage it, but I guess it can be done. I never would of thought of a 5 blade for a small engine, but the guy at the high performance shop said you need to try it, so I did. I honestly did not think I would get the thing to wot to max rpm, but the prop is smaller than my last one, but the same pitch, maybe that even it out.

My concern isn't for the prop it is for the lower unit.I rather buy a new prop then have to replace a prop shaft after hitting a rock.I still think I will look into a stainlees prop.

I added a SS Volvo 21p to my H180. It has a rubber hub which slips on a hard enough strike to protect the out drive. I haven't had a chance to test this feature yet.

But I bought the prop because of the shallow muddy river bottom and increased performance. Maybe 5% all the way around from hole shot, top speed, and fuel.
