Post subject:  Trim Question - Speed and RPM

I have a 2007 h180 with a Volvo 4.3L. Last year, the lower unit was pull and the shaft had to re-aligned after hitting a huge rock, skeg also had to be straightened.

The issue is that now when it is fully trimmed down it only goes about 4250 RPMs and 45 mph and engine is significantly louder. When I trim it up slightly..the RPM goes to 4500 and to 50+ mph and the engine is smooth.

Last year, before the accident, I could have it fully trimmed down and get the 4500 and 50+ mph. What could have the dealer done to make the boat act this way??

Any input is appreciated.

Joe

Hi Joe, my guess is that he may have repositioned the trim sensor when he put it all back together.

I've never run min flat out fully trimmed in, but I do get 50mph when very carefully trimmed up, so your speed is right. Extra noise when fully trimmed in is probably cavitation leaving a big air envelope and therefore no muffler.
