Well, after 3 long summer months without a boat, I'm head'n to Utah on Saturday to pick up my new one. After several major screw-ups including my build date "accidentally" getting cancelled and reassigned, waiting on parts, missed shipping, and a few other misc setbacks, the transport pulled in last Tuesday nite. My dealer was gracious enough to send me pics of it still in the shrinkwrap so I'd believe him! I'll be dropping it in the water on Sunday in Lake Mead, where I keep it stored, and after a couple of hours of playing and a couple of cold ones I'll forget I even had to wait.

I'll try and get a few pics posted when I get back in a few days.

Congratulations; Something I've never understood though; you can buy a 2011 model in almost the middle of 2010, before the 2011 models are even on the Four Winns website, so how do you know what you are getting in terms of standard equipment? I've bought new cars in the past, e.g. a 2005 Model Year Volvo V70 in very late 2004, but only after the brochure was out in November detailing what the 2005 MY version had. Is the FW Website really out of date, it still only shows 2010 boats ? ( my nearest dealer is a long way away, so I don't have easy access to brochures!).

I agree Graham, I think the model year designation of a given boat depends on who you ask, unless it happens to be a new model. My '05 has an '04 trailer and an '03 engine.

I knew going in that the 11's were pretty much identical to the 10's with a few minor cosmetic changes to the dash and as you may have seen on another topic where the trailer has new aluminum wheels (which I liked!). However, I was ready for a new boat, and I thought why not get it stamped with an "11" as it may (or may not) have a little effect on resale down the line. Plus, I've been boating since I was 8 and although I try to say "never say never" , this may be my last lake boat......

Thanks Mike! I'm finally getting a little excited after knowing they're detailing it as we speak. There's a chance that I may have the only Frenzy for 2011, as they were talking about discontinuing it this year and sticking with the SS. In fact, I had to get approval for the quick & quiet exhaust because they only want to put it on the signauture series (ss) and not make it available to other models. One interesting note, the talk about GM quitting making the 8.1's after this year is true and when FW was going through transition they ran out of the big blocks themselves with an 8 week order time. I was lucky enough to get a 8.1gxi with the 420hp and electronic vessel control (evc) which has a keyless start button as well as an electronic shift and throttle among other features. The top end should be interesting, as well as the hole shot!

I am obviously biased as I have an older version of the H260 with an 8.1L GXi/DP, but my guess is you'll love it. I've said it before, but still can't believe how well it pulls my big frame out of the water on slalom. It's not too shabby on the top end either. Congratulations and let us see pics of this beauty ASAP.

I'm sure it's been a frustrating 3 months waiting for it to arrive. Enjoy your maiden voyage on Lake Mead! Looking forward to pictures of this.

Just curious if you end up with or without the Catalytic Converters?

No cats! Even though I live in So. CA, I register and store it in Nevada. No property taxes on boats there like in CA, plus, you're able to register it as a non-resident. They wouldn't have been able to sell it to me without the cats if I was to register it in CA. My dealer in Utah (about 400 miles North from where I keep it in Nevada) sells it to me without tax and I pay tax to Nevada on Monday when I register it. For all of the UK and Aussies, or those not familiar with the area, I keep my boat in Boulder City, which is about 15 miles southeast of Las Vegas. It's just less than a 4 hour drive from my home in Huntington Beach without towing and worth every cent of the storage.

Congratulations on the new boat! I am really surprised at the 4 hour drive to access it, though. Is that normal in the US? Australia is a land where people drive great distances, but I doubt anyone here would consider driving more than one hour to his boat.

Well Brian, there are a lot of small lakes within an hours driving distance from my house, but they are so overcrowded that I don't even enjoy going. I've been going to Mead for over 30 years, and about 10 ago, I just decided I hated making the pull with the boat. It has over 500 miles of shoreline and 5 marinas, and if you know the lake well, you can be there on a packed holiday and find a place where you may see one or two boats go by in an hour. It's a tradeoff, but since I don't put it in saltwater (and I'm a couple miles from the ocean), I don't mind the drive for a quick 2 or 3 days of fun. And, I'm seriously thinking (a couple years down the line) of a Vista for the ocean someday.

I'm on my way out the door til Monday, so hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll report back next week!

Holy Bigblock Batman....420hp - are you for real??? Yeah - i would think you may be pleased with the hole shot and performance.....i would imagine you should be able to yank the ass out of an elephant it you wanted to. Hurry up and get it and post the pics....take some of the engine compartment too if you don't mind.

I was wondering why you were buying from a dealer in Utah....Makes sense now. The property tax is irritating here in CA - I hadn't considered registering it elsewhere. I do a lot of my boating on Lake Mohave for fresh, but do the majority in the ocean down here.

Enjoy!
