I went to replace all my cupholders this weekend with new stainless steel. The cupholder at the helm (see photo) is blocked by the interior vinyl panel above it. So I can only get it half way out. I have no idea how you would remove that panel--but I'm sure it is not easy. I may have to live with one white cupholder (which will drive me crazy), since I'm not sure there is any easy fix. Am I missing something (besides one stainless cupholder)?

Hmmm, I've never had any of that off down there so I'm not much help.

If it's anything like a 2004 Sundowner, there will be some stainless tabs attached to the lower enge of the panel, with screws into the fibreglass. Once the screws are removed, the whole panel can be lifted upwards and outwards/ off; there are large holes in the plywood backing, which locate onto metal brackets screwed onto the fibreglass.

But there again, it may be completely different!

I understood that that panel has automotive like plastic expansion clips, and one would use a 'notched spatula' like tool to pop them. Never pulled one so I can't say for certain. I do know that the cupholders in my '07 200H were really snug in the holes, so no way could I attempt any sort of an angle to avoid the obstruction. Perhaps if the stainless cup holders are narrower, you could cut out the plastic cupholder, and angle the SS replacement into place?

I actually have thought about the cutting option, but I am afraid I will get it out and then not be able to get another one in. Then I have a big hole in the fiberglass. I guess I will have 3 days on the water this weekend to ponder my next move. Thanks for the ideas!

Do you have a deck plate in the fiberglass down below the throttle (not sure if that's only provided if you have the subwoofer option)? I'm thinking those pads just have bolts that stick out the back, go through the fiberglass, and are held on with washers & nuts from the back side. If you have a deck plate, you might be able to stick an arm behind there to remove the nuts (if my theory is correct).

There is an access panel (round hole about the size of a speaker). In fact, I took out the access panel and put an extra speaker in there. I actually was running speaker wire back there last weekend. I think I will open it back up tomorrow and see if I can find any nuts or bolts back there. What fun for what I thought was a simple upgrade.

I thought about that too - you could do a test run on one of the other cupholder locations. You know, get a paperback or something else about the same thickness as the obstruction and try and put a SS cupholder in avoiding the paperback. Or work with cardboard to see if slightly enlarging the hole (while keeping it less than the size of the cupholder lip) would be enough to angle it in. Of course all of this is only worth it if you really don't want to mess with removing the obstructing panel.

So funny, I just ran into this dilemma this morning while replacing (all but 1 of) the 11 cupholders on my H250! That cupholder at the helm is blocked by the same panel as in your photo. I sat there like a monkey pondering my options. I was going to resort to cutting it out, but then thought the same as you, that if the stainless one isn't narrow enough to "tip in", as one of the poster suggested, then I have a big hole there! Ugh....and like you, that one white will will drive me nuts, but it remains for now.

Did you ever figure out how to pop off that panel? I didn't see a single fastener/clip for the life of me.

So far the one white one remains. I am going to ponder this one over the winter. I will figure it out, because it will drive me crazy. Let me know if you find any ideas.
