Sounds high to me too even though I bet it's extremely nice... that hour meter may have been unplugged too don't forget.

I’m thinking of getting back into boating with another Four Winns. There is a 2006 H240 for sale that is pretty much loaded. It has the 5.7 320hp Volvo DuoProp, Black Classic color band, matching black FW trailer, stainless steel bow plate and pop up cleats, Duel batteries, Table, head pump out, windshield wiper, and table. Here is the unbelievable part, the boat has 15 hours (used 9 times) on it and was stored indoors since new. The boat appears to be brand new as it left the dealer. All things considered, what would be a good price for this boat? |

Without looking at NADA, based on options and condition, I would say somewhere between $27-33K would be a fair price. |

This doesn't help, but if it has the newest generation VP, be aware of trim pump failures. |

I'm located on Long Island, NY, and the boat is located approx. 6 hours up state. It is a lake boat. His asking price is $36,500. |

To give you a reference point, I bought my 2005 H230 last November with similiar options, but mine also has the Captain's Call Exhaust and full camper canvas (two fairly big upgrades). I also have a spare tire with mount on my trailer and mine had 130 hours. I paid in the $30K range located in Tennessee. $36K is not bad for the hours and probably the area. I would try to knock it down a bit, but it isn't totally outrageous. |

As long as you are paying cash, $36K sounds reasonable. I think you can do better though. |

I have the guy down a few thousand and at this point it seems like a take it of leave it offer. I believe it does have the camper enclosure. I'm struggling with this based on the deal I got on my last boat. I bought my 2004 h230(same as 240) with 107 hours on it in August 2006 for $28k w/out the trailer. The trailer cost me $2,800. I wound up selling the boat and trailer in the spring of 2008 for $32,600 with 245 hours on it. The 2006 seems to be as close to brand new as I can get with out buying a 2010. Just want to make sure I'm not paying too much since I plan to keep it for 3 to 4 years then move up to something around a 30 footer. |

The camper enclosure is about a $2K option. I think if you could get them closer to $30-32, it is worth considering if it is clean and checks out. |

They replace it with a new design. I'm not sure why I don't have the "new" design on a 2010. I guess that's a question for another thread... carry on....

Thanks for the input on this. I'm thinking I might pass on this boat. There is a few things that just don't feel right. The seller sent me pictures, but after checking the files I discovered they were taken in 2008. I've asked him to provide recent picks several times and he just won't seem to send them. I got him down to 33k but I'm not feeling so great about the price. |
