I tested mine out by filling the bilge with water, then you know it's an automatic AND it works

Does anyone know if the 03 Horizon 180 came with an automatic bilge pump? Meaning it will turn itself on when water level reaches a certain point, even if the toggle switch is set to off. If not, will I have to toggle the switch to on to get it working. Thanks. |

I don't know if they came with them or not. Look in the bilge. If there is a box mounted near the bilge pump, then it has an automatic. You could always add one if it's not there. |

My 03 did not have an automatic bildge pump. Had to turn it on by the switch on the helm. I bought a new pump (little more capacity) that came with a float switch. Too much water and it kicks on automatically and I can turn it on manually by the switch on the helm. Pretty easy upgrade. Just take the engine cover and floor off so you can access it. Also, make sure you check the exit tube as the bigger the bildge pump, the bigger the hose gets. I think mine is an 800 and the original was a 500. |
