Hi all,
Have a 2007 H180 and the speedometer stopped working the last 2 times out. I don't really pay attention to the instrument that much anyway, but I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions as to what to check that might be quick fixes?
Thanks in advance.
Tim

We need to know what engine/drive combination you have.

Most likely, the Pitot tube is clogged. I know of my Volva drive, there is a small hole on the leading edge of the drive unit, forward of the prop. If this tube gets plugged with dirt/debris, it can cause issues with the speedo working.

Hi I have a new H200 from day 1 (july 1st) the speedo only went up to 20 mph, I used the pump that I use for the blowing up the tube to try to clear it I pulled of the end from behind the speedo and connected the pump and let it blow through for a while 10 mins or so. It started working better than ever, But as in the dock (slip) I use there a lot of weed so as I get out onto the river (Niagara) I put it in reverse and give it a blast that seems to clear the weed of the prop and away from the Skeg and the speedo works fine again. I also use a wire to clean out the pitot tube when cleaning the boat. Hope this helps.Image

The hose that carries the pressure from the pitot tube to the speedometer was pinched by a cable tie in my 200 6 Sundowner. I was able to use small diameter drip irrigation parts from Home Depot to cut out the pinched section and re rout the hose to a better location.
