It was in my owner's package, along with manuals, warranty info, etc. It's hollow inside and appears threaded. The "delivery captain" was out sick the day we picked up our H180 from the dealer last fall, no one explained with this thing is (or how to stow bimini for trailering, etc.) thx ![]() ![]() |

That is an "extra" eye ring that screws onto the end of a volvo style throttle cable, It hooks up to your carburetor/Throttle body throttle linkage to operate the throttle. Most dealers will normally leave it in the owners pack, But you shouldn't ever need to use it. |

I'm fairly certain Boat tech is spinning some yarn... That looks more like a dip-stick for measuring blinker fluid.... BUT, if you wanna believe it's a volvo throttle whawhozit, then fine... .see if I care! ![]() |

Of all the extra's they could put in there, why that? Something like a deck key would be much more useful. |

I've got one of those; I thought it was a sailboat safety wire screw, the dealer had no idea what it was. he said they all come with one; strange to get one with a 2004 boat as they by then no longer used the OMC (Volvo) type cables ! Mine also had a 1 cent coin under one of the transom bolts; a good luck charm perhaps? My 1999 boat had a free plastic deck key ( for the fuel cap). Shame it was more dense than water, it sank the first time I ever used it ( and dropped it) ! Graham |

lol, Nope, Sorry but there is no spinning some yarn coming out of me, There are way to many internet police out there nowadays that know what they are talking about to mess around like that with. ![]() ![]() So I guess this going to be for some of the non believers out there. ![]() If you would like to see where a similar part like the one in the photo above is used, Then Please have a look at item number 6 in the link below. http://www.volvopentastore.com/Throttle ... _id.329750 This part should attach to the end of a 33C type throttle cable used on volvo penta engines, And I'm sure some other engine manufacturers may have used it or something like it as well in the past, But I myself am just used to seeing a part similar to the one in the photo above come with the volvo penta engines. They normally will send two of them, One is longer then the other, It's usually up to either the boat rigger at the dealer, Or in four winns case the boat manufacturer installs the throttle cable during the engine installation process, And it is up to the installer to figure out what size they will need to use to make it work with the engine + the type of cable that they are working with at the time of the engine installation process. ![]() |
