I just bought my first boat last year and kept it at a marina...... ive been having alot of trouble getting up on plane... there were new risers when i bought the boat and other than trying to put an after market radio in which i failed to do lol..... i havent done anything to the boat.... now that its starting to be in season what should i replace or look at to fix the problem.... money really isnt too much of a problem because i just want my boat to be in perfect running conditioning so that when i take my parents or buddies out that im not praying that it will run properly.....

With your boat being close to 10 years old, this would be a good time to go through and have all the maint items done. Besides the engine oil/filter and drive fluid changes, get the plugs, wires (cap and rotor if applicable), and fuel filter. While changing the plugs, run a compression check too. If merc, 1992-1993 were change-over years to the elec fuel pump, and hi volume fuel filter (screw-on type). Make sure that has been converted. It's an inexpensive, and easy change over and really improves fuel flow (I did it myself for about $25 on my 1992 Maxum). Once that is done, get back on the water, run the guts out of it, and get an accurate (GPS) speed and tach for WOT. You will also need to get your drive gear ratio and prop pitch. Plug all that into a prop slip calc, and see where you are. This will allow you to make smart changes to your prop if needed.

If it won't plane out the boat, there are a lot of potential causes, I'm not familiar with boat EFI but I'd start with the fuel filter, fuel tank vent, and a little known culprit in fuel delivery problems, the anti-siphon valve on the gas tank. This is a spring loaded valve and the fuel pump has to be able to overcome the spring pressure to unseat the ball valve that keeps the fuel from flowing if the gas line from the tank to pump ever leaks. It's there to prevent a big fuel leak in the bilge. If it fails, the engine may start and idle fine, and even rev up in neutral, but will not pull the load of getting the boat up on plane. The other possible culprit is an ignition system that is not advancing the spark as it should. Fuel system problems are more likely in this case.

aluminum 3 blade...its probably cheap.... because it looked new when i bought it and i know the guy wouldnt spend the money for a good one if he wasnt using it

Very good advice!! As some else has stated, I would check the gear ratio of the drive. With that you can match up what prop you should have. You could have the wrong one on. Can you get the RPMs over 4000?? Is the drive all the way down?? If the boat is still in the water, check the drive. I once had a 18" long 2x4 stuck to my drive!!
