Post subject: | Engine Cover Lift Problem |
On my Horizon 23 the starboard engine cover lift ram is not operating either up or down. The port side works fine both ways. I had the starboard ram motor checked and it pushes fully on the bench. I checked the voltage from the Engine Hatch switch at the helm to the starboard lift and I get 9 Volts(???) at lift but no motion from the ram. I'm suspecting a bad relay in the box but has anyone experienced this probllem? Any advice would be helpful. J |

I have never had that problem but it sounds like you are on the right track. The relays in that control box are standard 5 pin Bosch relays that you can buy at any auto parts store for $6 or so. For that kind of money, you could easily try replacing one or more relays before digging into other possibilities. FYI, the wiring diagram for that control box is on PDF page 218 of this document: http://www.fourwinns.com/past_product/owners_manuals_by_year//2005/Horizon%5BSLASH%5DFreedom/Manual%20(Complete)%20-%208.5MB.pdf |

Jim, Tks for the reply...I'll pick up a few of the Bosch relays this weekend and see if that's the problem. |
