I have the 3.0 penta. If the motor is running I can disengage the shift
mechanism and run at idle with no problems. The problem comes if the
motor gets flooded and I need to disengage and open the throttle wide
open to get it started. 9 times out of 10 it will not disengage so the
motor will not turn over and the gas flow keeps it flooded. IF I can get
it to disengauge properly it will crank right up and I can reduce throttle
quickly and get it started. Does this sound like an adjustment of the
shifter or cable or maybe the shifter needs to be replaced? Most of the
time it will start okay, but if it floods it can be a PITA to start.
Thanks in advance if anybody can help.
