Hi all, I am trying to decide where on the transome to locate my new LED lights. They should be below the waterline but my boat will not be back in water for 3 weeks. Hopefully someone has a good shot of their horizon 180 or like boat in the water so I can determine how low to place the new lights. Thanks Rob |

Perfect.....Thanks Looks like I need to place the light about 10 inches below the blue color. Looks just like my boat as well. Rob |

Yeah, looks to me like as long as you are under where the bottom bracket of the ladder attaches, you should be good. Good luck! |

Where are you mounting them? Inside the indentation where the stern drive is our further out? Post pics as I was debating installing some. Thanks |

Not my boat but here is one similar. The red sticker on the port transom is where I think I will mount the lights. One port and one starboard. I tried drilling a hole right where that location is last night and did not exit where accessible from inside. So, it looks like I will have to run the wire up the transom about 4 inches and then through the transome. Rob ![]() |

That was why I asked! I was thinking of the access inside the boat to get the wire from the other side. I had looked at the light that ran through the plug hole, but I just figure that will get in the way or have to hang out when leaving the ramp. My other thought was mounting on either side of the drain plug hole. There should be access, but the light might get blocked by the stern drive. Maybe an angled light from either side? |

I am going to mount my lights tonight. I will snap photo and post for you to see. Unfortunately it looks like my web provider is down right now so none of my photos are accessible. Rob |

I would like to add lights to our boat also, but I surely don't have the guts to drill!!! I cant wait to see how yours turn out. I may call the dealer I bought the boat from and ask them how much they would charge me all together for a factory (ish) install and run all the wiring to the extra switches on the helm. What type lights did you buy for your install? Im assuming they are LED type?? |

I bought a set of 4 x 6 inch LED cluster from http://www.coastalnightlights.com/ They were $190 each and are blindingly bright. I got the blue ones. They have several sizes and shapes. The drilling and wiring is really easy. You could easily do it yourself but if you had a dealer do it I wouldn't think it would take 2 hours of labor if they are honest. I ran a wire back along the starboard side using a fish tape. I drilled a 1/4 inch hole from the inside as close to the light location as possible then located the light where I wanted....just below the waterline. I filled the hole with 3M 4200 sealant. I did one neat trick. I bought a remote control actuator from Oznium.com. This I hooked up to my new LED lights inside the boat on circuit 1 and on circuit 2 I hooked the lights underwater and under the swim platform. The remote was cheap at I think $40 and it will control up to 4 circuits. So I don't even need to run it to a switch. I just have a small, like a car remote, control that is a simple on/off for each circuit. I will get a few more photos tonight as I hope to finish up and get the boat cleaned up for my big trip to Maine. Ahhhhhhh 3 weeks at camp on the water. I can't wait. Rob |
