I know this is a "Trailer Section" question but I need Horizon specific info.

I have a 2008 FW H240 TANDEM AXLE TRAILER (Model #DO240HT).

So you are sure it is not a flipped shackle? (Happened to me and it bounced just like you describe).

Jim,
I have a 08 H240 also and had the same problems with one of my trailer tires as well. The left front was cupping really bad, others were fine. It did bounce down the road like you mentioned. I managed to catch it soon enough and FW actually replaced the axles (they said the axles were bent, which I don't think they were...but oh well). I would suggest taking it to a reputable trailer repair business and they can align your axles. Unfortunately, I'm not able to take measurements as the boat isn't close to me.

I'm also not close to my trailer, but will say that trailer axles can in fact be bent or defective, have a mis-aligned spindle, etc.

Thanks all for the info. I'm going assume the trailer was that way when I got it. : )

Wanted to provide and update ref this thread...

Took several pictures and measured the axels on both sides. Right side hubs were closer together than the left side. I took it to a tire shop in Bullhead City, AZ who services boat trailers. Apparently, the right side rear hanger was welded 3/4" off square causing consideral wear to 2 of the 4 tires. Owner said he sees a handful of trailers every summer with the dame issue.

I think Four Winns owes me the cost of the repair and a set of tires. What ya Think?

Can fourwinns directly and tell them about the issue. They may pay for it considering the extent and liability of the repair. I had a ton of issues on my 08 H240 with the tires blowing. Took then to discount and they let me buy cents for all tires even though I didn't buy the tires through them as they were put on by the factory. Needless to say I replaced tires 6 times until Carlisle came out with the new Load E and haven't had a problem since. Just food for thought. I pull back and fourth from Denver to Powell and had a trailer company replace my disc brakes with electric best money I ever spent

It doesn't hurt to try, if you can take pix of what was done and send them the invoice for the work done.
If you ever want a really well made trailer axle get in touch with Champion Trailers in Slidell La. They are great, their prices are less than OEM and the axles are 1/4" thick box section galvanized with Super Lube spindles, the best. I had them do an axle for my old Load Rite and it worked out great.
