Post subject:  Horizon 170 Start Problem

I have had my 170 since new in 1996. About 1/4 of the time, I can start the engine when turning the key. After jiggling the throttle control a few times, it will start. Anyone have any ideas for a fix for this? Jiggling the throttle lever doesn't give a good sense of security when shutting down the engine in the middle of the lake!

So what do you recommend we do if it's the neutral safety switch?

Weird....I had the same problem on my 96 QX. Traded it in before I found out what it was.

Probably need a new control box. I've had the same issue and a mechanic said
the box was shot. About $450 for the volvo part alone.
