I have had my 170 since new in 1996. About 1/4 of the time, I can start the engine when turning the key. After jiggling the throttle control a few times, it will start. Anyone have any ideas for a fix for this? Jiggling the throttle lever doesn't give a good sense of security when shutting down the engine in the middle of the lake! |

I HAVE THE EXACTLY SAME PROBLEM ... WITH MY 1996 170 HORIZON... LET'S GO KEEP WATCH FOR SOMEONE HELP US. |

Weird....I had the same problem on my 96 QX. Traded it in before I found out what it was. |

Probably need a new control box. I've had the same issue and a mechanic said the box was shot. About $450 for the volvo part alone. |
