Hey all.

I'm looking to upgrade and want to make sure if I do I could still tow her! I tried looking on fourwinns.com but couldn't find the info I am looking for. We currently tow our 19 foot Horizon with my wifes 1020 Xterra which is rated to 5,000 pounds.

Does anyone know the weight of the boat and trailer of a 06 22 foot horizon with wakeboard tower ?

Here is some of the information I found for you, 3890 lb approx. weight with engine, I'd guess around a 1,000lb for the trailer (just a guess) plus your gear and say about 300lb for gas. I don't know what a wake tower weights (100-200lbs???) You might want to check your gcwr with everything loaded up you might be over weight with that too.

I am sure you are going to be well over the 5,000 pounds when everything is calculated in. My boat, trailer loaded with fuel and junk weighed in at just under 7,500 pounds. From the numbers matt gave, the boat and trailer which is going to be about 1,200 pounds will have you over the limit already and that is before gas and gear.

And you need to add you and any passenger`s weight as well.... They adds up very fast. :shock:

I'd consider a more powerful tow vehicle, I went from towing my 88 200 Horizon with a 4.0 Jeep six to a 5.7 Jeep Hemi and it's night and day, the Hemi would be fine up to about 7000 lbs...with some air bags in the rear coils...

I tow basically the same boat with my '04 Envoy, rated at 5700#. I calc my weight at about 4700. In my case, the issue doesn't seem to be the giddy-up, or brakes (I've had to execute a few emergency stops), but towing with that much drag at 72 MPH. At 55-65, not too bad, and can even make a quick pass if need be. At 72 I get about 7 MPG, and have nothing left. As long as I'm still employed, I hope to be getting something a little more substantial next summer (used Tahoe, or new Durango) to give me a little more pushin' for the cushion.

I have one. Boat, engine,fuel,trailer is 5414lbs plus people, plus tower=no go. You need a Grand Cherokee!

Sorry for the hijack. Wet Doggg, are you sure you came in at 7,500 lbs? If so, you carry a lot of stuff on your boat. I just ran my H260 across the scales a few weeks ago. It had a full tank of gas, but no water in the fresh water tank. It also had all the usual stuff (ski's, life jackets, bumpers, ropes, etc). The only thing it was missing from a typical day on the boat for us was a cooler, food & people. With all that my H260 scaled in at 7,200 lbs. I realize we have the same basic boat with mine simply having a couple more feet of fiberglass, which really doesn't add that much weight. Heck, the big block & extra 20 gal of fuel capacity probably accounts for more of a weight difference then the extra two feet. I was just a little surprised at your weight.

To the OP, you're definitely over capacity with the Xterra.

Good catch...typo on my part. Mine was at 7,000 pounds. When I did the weight...I loaded up the boat with anything and everything I could think of that I might take at one time or another. I just wanted to know what the maximum weight would be. It is amazing how fast stuff like tubes, fender and junk add up to quite a bit of weight. Dry my boat is 4,200, trailer is 1,200 that means between gas and junk I have 1,600 pounds of added weight.

I always guessed mine was around 6,500 loaded down...plus 800 worth of people.....it adds up quick - 40lbs in ice alone. Regardless - you will be beyond the limits of the Xterra. Brings up another issue - Most trailer balls are rated at 5k....
