3.0? stay same size. Stick with aluminum prop, they break. SS props don't, and instead your outdrive will. $100 prop is cheaper then a $5000 outdrive. |

If you are happy with present performance, Stay with the same size in SS; just make sure you get the proper insert (which breaks instead of drive). Keep the old one as a spare, though I've never even scratched my SS's in now about 10 years of using them, compared to a repair at least once per year with the alum. |

Check the specs on the original prop that came with your boat - that will be the best all round prop for your setup. Some people will go with 4 or even 5 blade props and step the pitch down to increase hole shot for water sports. Better out of the hole performance, but you give up some on the top end and fuel economy. We wakeboard, ski, tube, kneeboard and cruise with the standard stainless prop that come with my boat and it is more than adequate performance. I do agree that stainless is the way to go - as mentioned get the nylon/rubber/polymer (whatever the hell it's made of) hub bushing. |

I currently run the Hi-Five, and am totally impressed. There are so many variables, and so many factors that need to be addressed, but we can discuss and get you set up here. If you wish to change the number of blades, or desire to change performance, etc, please dig around the forums as we have a wealth of information here from our own performance specs for various set-ups, props, engines, and hulls; prop slip calculator and more. If you don't find what you need there, ask away and we will get the info out to you. For actual props, I buy everything I need through MidWest Propeller. They are local to me (albeit 45 min drive), but I understand others here buy and get repair work doen through them. Best of Luck! |

Could you give us some information on what you intend to use the boat for so we can better advise ? |

I like skiing and tubing but not doing that so often.. Most of the time i cruise and not pushing the boat at WOT I just like a good cruise speed and good fuel consumption.. For next season i like to try wakeboarding.. Is stock prop dimension good for wakeboarding or i need a faster hole shot for wakeboarding? Which cruise speed and rpm are optimal for good speed/fuel consumption? Thank You |

Chrisvs put a new stainless prop on his Horizon 3.0. Maybe he will see this thread and comment. Greg |

Get an Apollo part # 993045 with the XHS II exchangeable hub system. SS over aluminum anyday if you want it to last many seasons without replacement. The 14 x 21 3 blade Apollo will take a #105 hub kit or the new #205 hub kit. The hub kits are totally interchangeable with the Mercury Flo-Torque hub kits. ![]() Contact Chris Bassett in the UK, he will direct you to your closest European distributor. http://www.michigan-europe.com/ Or order from iBoats or another US dealer and have shipped to your location. |

Thank's Cap for the pic! It's tough to explain the innards of the prop. I also want to say, and remind locals that Midwest has a price garantee... http://midwestpropeller.com/PriceGuarantee.html Naumosin....nomosion....navorski.... Ah hell... New Guy! When I had an 18' Maxum and started using it for wakeboarding, I got a 4 blade 20P SS (factory prop was 21P alum). That gave me a reasonable top-end of 43 mph at the very limit of the engine RPM range. It also gave me good hole-shot with a full boat; and most important, good control of speed in the critical 15-20 mph range for boarding. Your optimum cruise speed is going to be the slowest speed your boat stays on plane (minimum drag, minimum RPM)... normally about 20-25 MPH. Keep in mind, that is a pretty close to speed for tubing/boarding/skiing too! As a general rule, increasing blade count reduces prop diameter. Therefore you would normally want to increase pitch slightly to keep the same top-end/RPM (as I have a 19P 3 blade that gives me same top end/RPM as my 21P 5 blade). Also, going from Alum to SS, the blades are thinner, so higher RPM/top end, and less flex, so increased hole-shot; thus I would say first try a SS that matches the present prop you have, and see how that changes performance, then tweak from there using the prop slip calculator. http://www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm Hope that helps! |

I think Cap'n is on the right track with the apollo suggestion. I am not sure if 21" is the right pitch for you or 19". It is definately in the right range, but if you have the oportunity to try both, then I would. Ardy is running a Mercury Vengance, which you could also use (I think there is a hub kit on the market to run Merc Props on a Volvo drive). Again I can't remember if he is running a 19" or 21" pitch, but he is getting a good balance of speed and pull. I am running a 20" pitch Mercury Enertia, and am quite happy with the results. It is an expensive prop though.... |

Yep I am running a vengence 14x 19 inch ss with one person in the boat it will hold on the plane at around 19mph (Speedo reading) 2800 rpm. Most of the kneeboarding wakeboarding is done between 20 to 25 mph,3000 to 3400rpm, waterskiing 34-35mph 4000rpm to 4100 rpm. Flat out around 42 to 43 mph. All the speeds are according to the speedo NOT a gps reading. My guess is the speedo reads around 1 to 2 mph faster than actual ![]() Hope this helps |
