has anybody had any trouble with these springs on there boats? mine is a 06 180 and i'm on my third one. does anyone know if there is something else i can use instead of this spring? it doesn't seem to be that well designed. i might have to keep a stock of these if they keep breaking

The spring has to be pushed towards the stern when you close it. The minute it bends towards the bow its done for. I know because the service manager said the tech bent 2 of them installing them on my boat hahaha. I wish they made a better support rod. I think I am going to make one of my own because that spring is a joke

I'm so embarrassed. Wished I'd seen this post last week! I put the hatch down on a new boat in the showroom and bent the spring forward. Now it's junk! If I buy the new boat, I'll order 10 springs and keep them in the glove box....................

I had the same problem on my 2007 190. The dealership warrantied it and replaced the spring with 2 strut-type supports. It works great.

Does anyone know what summerizing a 190 entails?
