Hello, curious if anyone can help me with my off season repair. Last year towing home the snap on the stern side part of carpet came loose/broke and the carpet proceeded to flap the entire 45 mins drive home. The carpet pretty much frayed/pulled apart and the rubber backing on the bottom is nearly gone. About a 5 inch squared section is shot, when I say shot that there is no way to install a new snap. So my question is am I better off just buying new carpet or repairing? I did some googling but didn't find a carpet provider. I know of several upholstery shops in town I need to check yet too. |

Replace it. It won't be cheap, but will last for many years if taken care of. http://www.snapincarpet.com/ Or have a local shop quote for replacement, often it is cheaper locally. |

Replace it...for more than one reason. 1. You get the chance to get more modern backing that is more durable. 2. You get a chance to change color is you you like something a little different. 3. You get the change to buy a higher grade material/different material. 4. New carpet will asthetically make you feel like you are in a new(er) boat. Dont believe me...go buy brand new factory floor mats for your car...it makes a WORLD of difference. |

Have you seen this stuff http://www.seadek.com/default.aspx Like anything else, it has it good points & bad. Dark colors can get very hot in sun light. Non-slip, will not hold water, pricey, comes clean with a little work but will not stain like carpets. Can be made to fit to your boat!! |

Very interesting....the non staining thing would actually be a huge plus. Did some looking around on their website....the faux teak might be cool in a whole interior replace. I'll contact them and see if they ever done that on a bowrider with snap in. |

The teak looks great!! I have seen it at the boat shows. BUT, thats even more money. I can't remember the exact price, but it was around $20 to $25 a sq/ft. |

If you end up replacing your carpet, I would be interested in your old ski locker piece if it matches mine. See my post here: http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8834. Thanks. |
