Some 1996's are the same as the 2000. You can tell the difference cause the 96-200x style has a full fiberglass floor, no wood/carpet.
$9000 is way too much, unless it has a 1-3 year old Evinrude direct injected 2-stroke that is valued at nearly 6000 itself.
Ric, I already mentioned that some 1996s are the newer hull style. Good point about the full fiberglass liner...HOWEVER, that doesn't mean there isn't wood. There is wood in the floor and transom on these boats. Yours also.
You're wrong about the $9000 being way too much. These OB powered boats fetch a lot more than the IO counterparts regardless of the engine in either.
As I said, I would spend $8500 on a 2000 180 Horizon with a 150 HP Johnson in perfect condition. In fact if I could have found that boat within my 5 state search area 2 years ago, I would have bought it. The market for these boats has not changed at all over the past 2 years. I decided to spend more for a newer boat with a better motor b/c it was available and still felt that I did really well. I drove to Wisconsin to get it...about 400 miles without the ferry on the way back. There have been comparable boats to mine on the market since then for $12-$13k and they very well may have been worth it.
I'll say it again, these OB boats hold their value far better than the IO counterparts.
