Post subject:  H190 Bilge

I have found that even when my bilge is pumped that the way the boat sits allows for a small amount of water to collect at the back by the transom. I dont like the idea of standing water in the bilge as it promotes corrosion but short of sucking it out with a straw, or doing the sponge and towel trick, anyone have any ideas on this? I mean who installs the bilge pump not at the lowest point......? :?:

Bilges are not designed to be water free. The pump is actually mounted to an encaplsulated piece on marine plywood on the bottom of the hull. That way the screws to secure it don't penetrate the hull itself.

If your worried about it, replace the plug with one of those solar powered fans that screw into the plug hole and use a small fan to suck air through the bilge and let evaporation work for you.
