Does anyone have any experience with the transducers that epoxy to the inside of the hull? How about the thru hull?

I have reservations about the transom mount unit based on th small area to mount it where the outdrive "tunnel" is

Please anyone have any luck with the transome mount?

I have a transom mounted transducer on my 180, which is located in the tunnel. The unit has been working at speeds up to about 30 mph without fail. After 30 though, she does tend to loose bottom. The fish finder is a humminbird piranha Max10.

If you are O.K. with not using it at speed, I think this setup is the way to go. I would have reservations about putting a large transducer hole through the bottom of my boat, rather than 3 small holes through the transom.

Thanks for the reply. Im interested in the glue to the inside type as well. Are you port or starbord with your transom mount?

Starboard side, about mid way between the drive mount and the side of the tunnel.

I have no experience with the glue in type, but it sounds interesting. Can you adjust them to match the deadrise in the hull, or should they be placed on the hull centerline?

Had a dealer installed epoxy in type. Didn't work. Might have been a gap in the liner and the outer hull. Went to the transome mount, Perfect even at speed. We went with the hummingbird.

Chrisvs they have a block you can shape to match the deadrise. Read about it online at the Humminbird website......

Looks like im going to give the transom mount a try....i still break out in a sweat when i think of drilling a hole in my new boat for the cable though.... :roll:

Well here is an update. I tried to mount the transome unit and discovered that the tunnel in the 190 is too narrow and that the curve of the hull interferes with the bracket location. So I'm debating on weather to build out with "starboard" a new flat place screwed and glued to the hull and then mounting to that or if I should still consider mounting it inside. I read more from Humminbird and they indicate that the transom mounted units can be glued to the inside of the hull also and that you can test them buy putting them in the bilge with a small sandbag on top of the unit. Fill the bilge with a little water to submerge the transducer and if it works you just glue it in in that position or move it around until it works....

Rob you had a glue in can you tell me more about your experience with it?

Wish I could. It didn't work from the get go. Dealer guessed that there may have been an air bubble between the finished bilge area and the outer hull. :x I wanted that option to work but alas, I have the transome mount...
