After 23 yrs with a 170 Freedom, which my family bought brand new, I just got my first Four Winns. A 2002 180 Horizon with the 4.3. Boat had 98 hrs on it and is in immaculate condition. I love the boat except a few glitch details that I was wondering about.

1- what is the best option for an extended swim platform. This little thing just doesn't cut it.
2- what are the est options to get rid of the front, man part destroyer, cleat? The lake I'm on does not allow docks so we have to go in and out of the bow and that thing scares the crap out of me.
3- best options for a depth finder, really want to get a small factory looking guage in cluster if possible.
4- prop size and best options for upgrading for a bit more power

Oh, in case anyone was wondering, the 170 Freedom is still going strong. I just wanted a boat for my family to go out on when we weren't at camp

I will respond to point 2 - the cleat is functional and makes a great grab handle, so an easy temporary fix is to cut a piece of rubber hose lengthwise place it over the cleat and it will act as a soft non invaisive cover, and you can still tie off with it when needed.

Congrats on your new boat. I just added the factory Four Winns platform to my 2003 H240

Faria makes several good depth finder & transducer options. Faria was factory OEM on my 2005.

If you are serious about doing some mods, just buy retractable cleats... although be forewarned they are not cheap... my old boat did not have them and I did not mod because of the cost... My new one does, and man are they great...
you could change only the fronts if you wanted...

So my tach was shot. Had to order a replacement. The depth finder is n order. I also installed a pop up cleat in the bow only. That one might be the best mod I've done. I also had e screws that hold the motor cover rip out. There was a wood backer plate behind it. I had to make a few cuts to gain access to thru bolt the bolts in the bracket. Works great now

That platform looks great! My dealer sent me to Swimplatforms.com and said that was my option. I really like the ladder. The standard 3 step one is adequate only

I vote for retractible cleats.
