Post subject:  Propeller pitch question...

Question for those of you that know these sorts of technical things....

I have a 2006 220-H that came with a stainless prop. The (Dia / Pitch) was 14 1/2 X 19. Well...last friday my prop was stolen and I really wanted to hit the water on saturday. I go to the dealer (they were closed but still helped me out) and all they have in stock was a VP stainless, but the size was 14 1/2 X 21.

My question is....any idea if the new diameter pitch will effect my boats performance....and of not....what will this different pitch do??

Any insight will be appreciated as I am a very new, non-mechanically inclined boater. :?

by the way...I bought what they had in stock and did not notice any difference...not that I would actually notice though....

With the change in pitch, you should see a lower top end RPM as well as a bit slower holeshot. Top end speed will most likely stay close to the same or may be slightly higher. Check at WOT what your RPMS are and if they're a bit lower than recomended, you will wnat to change to a lower pitch prop.
