Trouble with sliding seat

So I was out on the water sat and I went to move my seat forward worked fine little while later I went to move again and now it will not click in any slot, it just slides back and forth and will not lock in place. There is a round bar under seat and when you pull latch it should release to slide, than once released it should lock in place. I noticed this bar will not rotate back in to the locking position. I can spin it back with pliers but when u pull handle to slide seat it just does not spin back. Any ideas?

I haven't looked under the loungers in a while, but as I recall there should be a spring that is tensioned when you pull on the handle that springs back and locks the seat into the nearest cog on the rail. look for a square cutout, or a drilled hole on the release lever, and the rail, or check the other seat usually only one side of the spring comes undone but sometimes they both do and you loose the spring...replace, or reattach the spring and the seat should lock properly

I can't say for sure what your issue is but I can tell you that these are really easy to work on. To remove the seat there is a small sliding clip on the black collar at the top of the stainless post. Pull this spring loaded clip back and the entire seat lifts right off the post. From there you can flip it over and get to everything really easy to see what is going on.

Also the way that the locking part works for sliding forward and back is kind strange. The seat has teeeth on it which resemble the teeth on the bucket of a backhoe. These stay stationary at all times. Then there is a bar with what is best described as camshaft lobes on it that rotates. imagine a camshaft but all the lobes face the same direction. when locked into the position the tall part of the shaft lobes fall in between the bucket loader teeth. When you pull the lever you are rotating the cam, in turn freeing the bucket loader teeth to move.

I imagine what's not happening is that the camshaft part is not rotating back into position.

The screws that hold the seat to the slider get loose and that happens. I went to ace hardware got bigger SS lag bolts with 3m 5200 and it cured that issue.
