I have a 1995 240 Horizon with a 7.4L OMC King Cobra that recently went dead in the water with no gauges or ignition. Turned out the ignition breaker had tripped and I didn't push hard enough to reset. In my search for the problem I disconnected the two wire leads and connectors to the cutoff switch only to pull the terminals off the switch still attached to the connectors. I've "hotwired" by connecting the two lead wires and bypassed the now broken switch, but want to replace the switch. Replacement OMC switches are about $70, which includes the two prong switch, mounting plate and lanyard. My dealer says they are trying to make these parts obsolete and that's why they are so expensive. Is there another two prong switch I can use that is cheaper and if so, where do I find it? |

I did that as well, but didn't think a four terminal switch would work as the one I have is a two terminal. I've since learned that on a four terminal switch, two are for open and the other two are for closed, I just use two of the four. Guess thats why they call them universal switches. Problem solved. Thanks. |
