I've always known the boat was a little under propped but I started doing some checking and it appears that an F5 is stock. The guy I bought it from bought it new in New York and used it in the Finger Lakes region so it shouldn't have been setup for high elevation or anything. I don't know for sure but he really didn't seem like the kind of guy who would have messed with the prop.

I guess it doesn't matter why it's like that, I'm just debating dropping the $ for a new set of props and if I do, should I choose F4 or F5. 90% of our boating is water sports and such on smaller lakes where I'm rarely at WOT for much time at all but when I do, I have to be careful to pull back and keep it from hitting the rev limiter.

I don't really care much about top speed (which is about 44 - 45 @ 5000 rpm) but when we're on bigger lakes or the Mississippi and want a decent cruising speed it seems like the engine is turning more r's than it should.

While my boat is a couple of years older -- and I have the Gi engine -- not the GXI --- (so a few less horsepower) -- I have the F-5's on my boat.
I have considered trying the F-6's, if I were to get a spare set ---but the F-5's have been fine.

Since it is DP, the props have provided enough low end power to get the boat on plane easily with 12 people on board -- (the CG rated capacity - that
was 8 adults and four kids) -and within the nameplate pounds also.

I would think you would like the cruising on the F-5's better.

Look on ebay -- I have seen the F-5's there used for about $6-800 --- less than the new at $12-1300 or so.
