the trim on my boat is not going down ! new at this please help Boat is a 2006 Four Winns H240 with Volvo Penta 5.7 liter 300 engine |

check the breaker, if not tripped...tap the trim motor with something metal. not hard. |

The motor sirts on top of the trim fluid reservoir; probably on the port side in the engine compartment. Is the trim pump running, or is it dead when you truy to trim down ? If it trims up OK, then it's not the breaker or motor. There's a couple of relays on the trim pump/ reservoir assembly( one for "up", the other for "down"; try swapping them over in case the "down" relay is faulty, or there's a loose or poor connection due to corrosion etc. |

It is a 2006 - the motor should be the newer style that is not the type that sits on top of the reservoir on the port side (easy to "tap" and diagnose). You didn't specify which Volvo drive you have, but if that boat has a volvo "SX-A" drive, the pump is external as stated above and you might be suffering from a design flaw that causes the hydraulic fluid to leak out. Luckily they warrantied mine when I discovered it and there is a redesign kit available. Of course in this case, you should at least still hear the motor trying... if tapping on it doesn't work, i'm pretty sure this motor also has a fuse. Check both fuse boxes (below dash and in the engine compartment) |
