Hi,

Just bought a 234 from the original owner with 186 hours. Overall it's in great condition but the pvc cap on the rear deck for the water fill fitting just crumbled from age. Does anyone know where I can find one? Tried the link to the parts manual on this site but it doesn't work. Is there an online parts catalog online somewhere?

Thanks,

Lou

Thanks for the reply Chris. But no, on my 234 there is a PVC or plastic male fitting on the stern deck right above the water tank which is in the engine compartment. The fitting is less than an inch diameter and has inner and outer threads and an oring. It had a cap that screwed into and around it, that is what I am looking for. I thought it was for filling the tank and the oring to hold pressure from the pump but I could be wrong since the boat is new to me.

I sent a message to Four Winns customer support about it but have not heard back. Wish I could find a parts list for the boat somewhere as that would probably call out what it is.

First of all, welcome to the forum - it's great to have more Funship owners here!

What year is your FS? Always good to post information in your signature block....

I think what you are describing may actually be the engine flush fitting, but it would be helpful to see pictures. On my 214, the water fill is on the starboard side and is a metal screw in cap.

Good idea, fixed my sig

It's a 2004 with low hours that I bought from a friend who bought it new. Great condition as its been stored inside its whole life.

I'll have to take a picture when I get back down to the marina to winterize it but I thought it was plumbed to the water tank on the port side aft above the storage locker, could be wrong. It's PVC or plastic and I can't find anything in the manual on it.

Here a link to the Four Winns parts list for your year/model:
http://parts.fwdealer.com/Catalog/Category?SelectedCategory=234FS-A04-Z00

Does it look like part 035-0031 FITTING, WATER INLET #499 (FEMALE)

Or this: 031-0087 DECK FILL, S.S. WATER #66408-1

Or neither of those....?

Thanks for the replies guys. User friendly site that Four Winns parts one.

After looking at the two items you posted I'm starting to think I have misidentified it. I am going to try to post a couple of pictures to give you an idea of where it is on the boat. I put a red arrow to show it, the green arrow I think now is the water inlet based on the caps in the parts catalog. I'll try to get a closer picture when I go to the marina again.

Guess I can't import picture so I am going to have to link to Photobucket

This?

I found the pic on a boat trader ad... :D . That being said, it still isn't close enough for me to see what it is, but no doubt someone else will come along who knows.

Nope, to the left of that about the same height. See the red arrow in my pictures above. A green mooring rope is laying on top of it. That's the fitting with the cap on it. It's PVC or some kind of plastic.

When I expand your picture, that looks more like the mast light receptacle.

Found a picture online but its kind of small in it. Pointed to it with a red arrow. Its the small PVC (white) fitting at the tip of the arrow not the metal one further up.

Thanks,

OK, this is the only other shot I can find...

Assuming it's not the gas cap you're talking about, then possibly a vent cap? part 032-0110-02

That's all I've got...

Good luck!

Ahh that's a vent. Got mine on amazon ...went with the stainless so they wouldn't cracked again. Here's the thread http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14049

Good idea Chris, I'll have to keep the SS ones in mind for next time. After a little searching, I found it at Walmart of all places for $4.28 plus tax delivered to the store. I'll pick it up Tuesady.

So if anybody needs to replace theirs, here's the link http://www.walmart.com/ip/Attwood-Replacement-Cover-for-1671-Fuel-Tank-Vent/34225237

Oh and I found the elusive Bimini frame clips that were missing on eBay for $4.50, here's the link if anybody needs any http://tinyurl.com/q63ecq2

Probably the least expensive things I'll ever need to do to the boat. :D

Thanks for the help guys,

Lou
