If this engine has the p/s cooler on the rear of the engine, in line with the raw water intake hose, there is usually a drain plug on it if you can get at it with dropping it in the bilge (and that's a big if). What I do is this: Put the drive all the way down. Disconnect the raw water intake hose (on the Volvo this will be at the impeller housing, on my Cobra and Alphas it's at the thermo housing). Point this hose down to drain the raw water out of it. Then hold the hose up and fill it with -100 marine AF till the AF comes out the drive water intakes. This pushes any residual water out of the hoses and the cooler. Doing it this way for years and never had a problem. The first year I struggled to get that plug out, the second year I did too but first drained the hose as above to see if there was any water left and there was not. So now I don't bother with that drain plug... Reconnect the hose at the impeller housing....done.....
