Just saw this; I just pump in wheel bearing grease to lubricate the gear/ screw assembly once per year, with a light spray of silicone on the outside of the ram. It's also worth checking that the electrical connections are not corroded/ loose. Also, the lower mounting pin which allows the assembly to pivot might need lubricating. My boat's bilge was always wet (rainwater used to run down on top of the motor and the connections) and the hole in the motor assembly into which that pin fits was very corroded, (as were the connections). I had to drill it oversize and fitted a plastic bush before repainting the whole thing.
