Hi, My marina charges about $150 to winterize the fresh water system on the Funship. Is this anything more than running the water tank dry, filling the fresh water tank with RV type antifreeze and running the sink and the spray hoses until antifreeze comes out??

Is there anything else to be concerned with or any reason I should not do this myself? Thank you....JB

Thats what i did the first few years, last year I did an additional step and after running the antifreeze out, I blew all the lines to rid most of the antifreeze. This eliminated most of the smell related to it.

Your biggest risk is right at the pump itself since it is the lowest point. I would do as Jeff stated, drain your system, add a gallon of RV antifreeze then run the pump as long as you are picking up antifreeze I would not be too concerned about getting the Af to run out of the ends. Oh yeah I would alos store with the taps open to atmosphere so any water that may be trapped will not get airlocked in the system. Eventually through agitation of baording and trailering to and fro storage all the water will make it to the antifreeze locations and you will be protected.

I don't know how accessible your pump is but I would be tempted to simply drain the system, remove the pump and store in the heated house for the winter. Again leave the taps open.
